Answers to common questions about domains, hosting, billing, and account management.
Domains
›How does domain registration work?
Search for a name, select an available extension, and the price shown at search is the price charged at checkout - registration and renewal are always shown separately. Once payment is confirmed, SKAVON submits the registration to the registry, and your dashboard reflects its current status rather than a static "request sent" state.
›What happens after I buy a domain?
It appears in your dashboard under My domains, with its current registration status. SKAVON automatically enables free monitoring for one website - if you add your domain's URL as a monitored website, alerts are issued for downtime, SSL certificate issues, or unexpected DNS changes.
›Is the renewal price disclosed upfront?
Yes. The renewal price is shown next to the registration price everywhere a domain is priced - search results, checkout, and your dashboard - and is never shown for the first time after purchase. Where a domain has an unusually large gap between its registration and renewal price (uncommon, and a reflection of the registry's wholesale cost rather than a SKAVON markup), that gap is disclosed in the same place.
›Does SKAVON auto-renew my domain?
Not yet. You are responsible for renewing before your domain expires - see the Domain policy for what happens if a domain lapses (it varies by registry). Your dashboard shows each domain's status - check it periodically, or watch for renewal reminders once you're closer to expiry.
›Can I transfer my domain in or out?
Yes, subject to standard registry transfer rules (an authorization/EPP code, disabling any transfer lock, and a registry-defined waiting period) - see the Domain policy for the full detail. SKAVON doesn't add extra restrictions beyond what the registry itself requires.
›What happens if my domain expires?
It depends on the specific registry - some offer a redemption period (at the registry's own restore fee, not SKAVON's), others release the name for anyone to register once it lapses. See the Domain policy for the per-registry terms; policy varies by registry and is stated as such rather than as one universal grace period.
›Can I change nameservers later?
Yes - nameservers are never required at checkout. Registration completes with the registry's own default, and you can point your domain wherever your site actually lives afterward from your domain's management page, whenever you're ready.
Websites & Care
›What is SKAVON Care, and do I need it?
Every website gets full monitoring free - uptime, SSL, DNS, security headers, performance, and content-change checks, with an email alert the moment something changes. SKAVON Care (₹240/yr or ₹29/mo) removes the one-website limit, for anyone managing more than one site. If you only have one website, the free tier already covers it in full.
›What does website monitoring actually check?
Availability (is it actually reachable right now), SSL certificate health, DNS record changes, your domain's own expiry/registration status, the DNS records that keep your email deliverable, missing security headers, page load performance, and unexpected content changes. Every check runs on a schedule; a state change (up→down, a cert nearing expiry) triggers an immediate email alert, visible with full history in your dashboard.
Payments & Refunds
›What happens if my payment fails?
Nothing is charged and no order is marked paid - SKAVON only ever marks an order complete after the payment processor confirms it server-side, never on trust. If a payment fails during checkout, you'll see that immediately and can try again; nothing is registered until payment genuinely succeeds.
›How do refunds work?
See the full Refund policy - refund window: 5 working days from the date of purchase. Once a registration or renewal has reached the registry, it generally cannot be reversed, per registry rules rather than SKAVON policy - email support with your order details for a determination of eligibility.
